If the picturesque cobble-stone streets, large selection of cafes, bars and restaurants and wide range of shops doesn’t take your fancy then perhaps its hidden gems will. Stavropoleus Church and Monastery is strikingly beautiful and houses a rare collection of old history and religious books as well as rare icons. After the U.S Pentagon, Palace of the Parliament is the 2nd largest administrative building in the world and the number one attraction to do on any visitors list. Built under communist reign, the building now plays host to the National Museum of Contemporary Art on the top floor whilst tours of the actual building itself are available to those who wish to delight in its extravagant interior, mysterious tunnels and to hear interesting stories.
The capital also boasts a decent cuisine scene too. Offering a worldly selection of popular food as well as traditional restaurants serving traditional Romanian delicacies that definitely will not put a dent in your pocket. For a more intuitive glance at Romania’s History, the Village Museum in Herastrau Park has reassembled 60 original houses, farmsteads, windmills, watermills and churches from various historical regions of Romania.
Finish off your time in Bucharest with a walk in the landscaped in Cismigiu Park and boating lake or take in the growing coffee culture at Origo, known for both their local and bean expertise.
